I started to work on my version of the Mini Mall.

This took me only about 20 minutes to do. It is searching Amazon.com for the keyword "ipod", and returning the top result based on the Amazon pmrank, which is Amazon's promotional rank.
It still needs a lot of work, but basic functionality is there.

It is using a keyword. However, this keyword could be pulled from a lot of different sources automatically. It would not be considered if for example you pulled the keywords from a referring search engine url, or from the page metatags, or from a pre-existing keyword list. Amazon allows for contextual searches as well, but I am not even going to mess with that because of the adsense issue.
